Journalists play a key role in shaping public opinion. Unfortunately, widespread adoption of Christian Nationalism and the consequent spread of anti-trans legislation has led to an abundance of dehumanizing and damaging reporting on transgender communities. In this panel, trans and nonbinary journalists and advocates will team up to help attendees hone their skills at combating these anti-trans narratives. They will increase their familiarity with research-tested messaging tools, including Transgender Law Center’s Journalist Resource Series and the Race Class Gender narrative messaging architecture. In doing so, they will be better prepared to advance public opinion in our favor while maintaining credibility and repairing trust between transgender people and the media.
