Diversity in the Newsroom

 As newsrooms become more diverse, everyone must adjust to collaborating and interacting with people of different backgrounds and deal with exposure to unconscious bias. LGBTQ+ leadership, management and editorial, discuss issues in the newsroom and provide a broad prospective of ideas of how to handle them as a LGBTQ+ and/or person of color. Topics include Managing Up (managing the manager), having challenging conversations when news stories personally impact the journalists covering them, how bias in the newsroom impacts storytelling and connecting impoverished communities and students to the newsroom and the journalism industry.
